Information we handle
Public research highlights, publications, news, project information, course calendars, and released learning resources do not require personal information.
When you use a private course or lab workspace, the service may handle your name, email address, institute identifier or roll number, programme details, profile photograph, contact information, submissions, grades, feedback, announcements, discussion messages, and other files you choose to provide.
How information is used
- Authenticate approved students, auditors, staff, and lab members.
- Provide course material, submissions, feedback, grades, and communication.
- Operate the MIR Lab member directory, calendar, discussions, and research workflow.
- Maintain security, prevent misuse, and diagnose service problems.
Access and visibility
Course enrolment records, submissions, and grades are private. Students can access only their own protected academic records. Teaching staff can access records needed to administer their course. Lab-member information is available only within the approved member workspace, subject to role-based access.
Service providers and storage
The portals use reputable hosting, database, file-storage, authentication, and email-delivery services to operate the system. Information is shared with those processors only as needed to provide the service. The app and portals do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or perform cross-app tracking.
Retention and control
Information is retained for the period needed to teach a course, manage lab work, meet academic or institutional record requirements, maintain security, and resolve disputes. Profile information can be corrected from the relevant workspace. Access-removal and privacy-related requests can be sent to the contact below.
Security and children
Private services use encrypted connections, role-based access, and protected authentication. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. The app is intended for university students, staff, collaborators, and adult members of the public; it is not directed to children under 13.
